Ongoing Projects
At present, I am working on a three-year project (2006-2009) on identity formation among early Christ-believers: The Judgment of God and the Formation of Christian Identity: Matthew’s Gospel and its Early Reception. The project is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Having completed two articles within the context of this project (see “Publications; Accepted for Publication”), I hope to have a book manuscript on the Matthean community completed within short: The Gospel of Matthew and the Myth of Christian Origins: Re-Thinking the So-Called Parting(s) of the Ways Between Judaism and Christianity.

In addition, together with Mark Nanos, Rockhurst University, I am co-authoring a study on Paul: Paul and Apostolic Judaism. This book is designed to introduce Paul as a Torah-observant Jew believing that Jesus of Nazareth was Israel’s Messiah and the saviour of the nations. We have coined the term Apostolic Judaism to signify this dynamic. Discussions will focus on the Jewish and Graeco-Roman contexts of Paul and the various audiences of his letters alongside detailed examinations of the messages he communicated.
