I supervise graduate students in Japanese Religions and in anthropological approaches to the study of religion. My main area of research involves the ethnographic study of modern and contemporary Japanese Buddhism. I am particularly interested in the ways in which different "Buddhisms" play out at institutional and local levels. Students who are interested in graduate work in modern and contemporary Buddhism, the religions of Japan, and ritual studies should feel free to contact me by email. |
